What could be the cause of vertical lines at the screen of a Vizio tv?

The sound and other functions seem to be ok. Below I',m sending a photo of the screen as a sample of the problem.

Possibly one or more defect column driver chip(s) on the LCD. Or contact problems in the connection between LCD and mainboard.

This is a problem I see very often on LCD panels. Mainly smaller panels and in every case it has been the LCD panels at fault
quite possibly for the reason Harald stated

Chip-on-flex issue..... my laptop does it now and again! A 'press' along the edge of the display often cures it - sometimes for minutes, sometimes for days. I'm looking for a new screen for a permanent fix.

I've seen semi-permanent solutions using elastic foam to exert the required pressure once the screen is reassembled.
