I have an old video camera, a Pentax Movie 8 (PV-C860E). It doesn't recognize casette anymore and i did a little investigation inside the casette drive.
I found some component that might be causing trouble, here is picture: p4170045.png
When i put my fingers around that red part at the top it does the casette processing cycle and becomes ready to record when i close the casette drive.
But when i put an actual casette in it and close it, it does the first cycle but then it says that there isnt any casette in and wont let me play or record anything.
I hope someone can tell me what to do and what component is that. Thanks in advance :)

It's an optical sensor, It senses when a cassette is inserted into the camera.
