Hi Guys,

I have a motor out of whirlpool condenser dryer. If you google:

C.E.SET cpi 2/55 132/IRA-F1

It shows up. I have always wanted to experiment with generators but have never find the right motor. Can someone tell if this one can be used as a generator? If not what types should I be looking for.

Thanks,
Ash

Looks like a standard split phase induction motor .
Won't work as a generator.

Plenty of info about on the web using an old car alternator.
Safe enough , low voltage, 3 phase and cheap from wrecking yard if you get an old model say 40 or 50 amp.
You need to run them up at a couple of thousand rpm to get much out of them but as I said, check on the web.

Thanks guys, I would go to the scrap yard to fetch one. But I don't drive so will have to find a way around it.

Best to get an alternator with a regulator on aswell then. I like that washing machine motor too.
