I'm looking for something like this: http://www.tequipment.net/Pomona2390.asp

I guess it's a "box" but that search term produces too many hits. I
want to buy a dozen or so but the price of the above item is silly.
Anyone know a cheap supplier?

Try to make them yourself and see what they cost you to build.

You might look to see what Keystone and H.H. Smith have
--but if you think there is much variation in price, you're dreaming.

Well it does look like I will have to make my own. Let's see, a little
plastic box: $1, two bulkhead BNC jacks: $1.78 comes to a grand total
of $2.78. Plus a pain in the butt driving around to get the parts. I
can't believe these things retail for more than $5! I realize the
Pomona part is probably weather-proof and so on, which is what they
charge the big bucks for.

It's a metal box. RF Proof! And it can take the strain that a platic box
can't. But, you're right, it is still too much. The only reason they
cost that much is that there is little call for them now. I have a few
in my junkbox.

Just think what what a PC would cost if they only sold a thousand a year.

ebay search for BNC bulkhead fittings, probably can get u 25 pieces for abt
$10 total! ( or strip some from some surplus panels?)

(bulkhead fittings are easier to install, just drill a single hole, rather
than precision laying out for those blasted tiny tiny 4/40 screws!)

ebay search for Bud Box or aluminum with sheet metal fasteners, probably
get 10 for leass than $10

silicone sealer makes lotsa stuff waterresistant ( i never say watertight
anymore, u just cant do it!)

if u want easy and lazy, spend money. if u want innovative and creative, GET
BUSY!

:))

It all depends on your application. If you're talking about
frequencies below 500Mhz or so, you get all the parts you need at
Radio Shack at reasonable prices. If you are looking for something
that is bullet proof or using it for UHF or Microwave frequencies
you'll need something more. I could give you a better idea of what to
use if I knew what it was for. Promona's prices are high, but there
are many more sources for what you want depending on use and
environment.
