webcam USB ground

I have modified a webcam to take long exposures and have installed the webcam
in a aluminium project case. The webcam had a USB cable soldered onto the
PCB and I have removed it and intend to fit a USB socket on the aluminium case.
Would it be okay to have the ground of the USB socket touching the case?

That should be USB shield, not ground.
