    In the diagram attached, if d = √(1+2KRs(VIn-VT), define an algebraic expression for the small signal gain vo/vi, in terms of RL, RS and d.

    Presumably when you enter this into the form and press check you get a red cross?

    If so, then you're almost certainly not right.

    I don't see any way to get a clean transfer function due to the nonlinearity of the MOSFET characteristic function. However, if you assume that the constant terms in the transfer function are not important, e.g. use AC coupling, and that the non-linear parts of the transfer function are insignificant, then you end up with a familiar transfer function. See attachment.

    What about d? If we have to define vo/vi in terms of RS, RL and d?

    How can you define Vo/Vi in terms of d when d is defined in terms of Vi?
