    Hello

Currently researching a new alarm control panel and keypads for a
    hardwired security system.

I noticed that for the "soft alarm" warning, many consoles will beep or
chirp when a zone/contact is activated. Some consoles allow you to
even program a different beep or chirp sound for each zone. I suppose
this way you'd know that if zone 2 was the front door contact and it
"beep beeped", then you'd know that the front door just opened when you
    heard that sound.

....so dumb question, to avoid having to remember what beep sound was
setup for what zone... and then having to cross reference that zone
with the correct sensor.. is there a console that simply will say, "The
front door is open" or even "Zone 2 is open" in a human voice? I can't
seem to find an alarm product that has this capability.

It can't be a technical limitation because my $9.99 answering machine
has a chip that will clearly state the date and time before playing the
    phone message.

    Thanks
    James

  2. Ademco Lynx panel has built in voice alerting and it can be added to mostof
there vista panels by using a voice alert keypad 6150V and 6160V FBII panels
also have a module that let the keypad speak as well as do many other
    manufactuers.

When the automated information center on my wife's LeBaron "died", I didn't
miss it at all... "A door is a jar", "your parking brake is on", "please
    fasten your seat belts"... Arggghhhh!!!

I was just going to mention that on Jim's post. It's like having a three
year old following you around all day asking annoying questions....

When we installed the voice keypad (FA560vkp) on our office system the
service techs (one of which is usually in the office all day on the
downloader) thought it was pretty cool.

Now that you mention it the voice chime DID get turned off pretty darned
    quick....
