Vista 10SE - and Cell phone?

I have a Vista 10SE in a remote building set up to monitor a high water
condition only. I just want to know if the water reaches a certain level. So
no big security deal. And no need to respond right away. Just need to go to
the building within a day or so to check on things.

I programmed the unit to call my cell phone. The only time I would receive a
call from that number would be from the Vista unit. So I would know there
was a high water condition if my cell phone received a call from that
number.

But 2 problems with this...

1. After system tripped, the Vista keeps calling my cell phone until I
remove power (AC and Batt), and then reconnect power. Is there a way to stop
the unit from calling from the keypad? (I have the alpha keypad.)

2. It is a toll charge from the location of the Vista to my cell phone
number. If I am out of town and can't get to the unit to remove power to
keep it from calling, I would assume it would keep trying to call forever?
(And rack up a large phone bill in toll charges if I am out of town for say
a week.) Is there some sort of timeout setting on phone call attempts? i.e.
The Vista would attempt to call say 5 times, then quit?

Do I have other options? Is there a new system or add-on module designed to
call a cell phone only?

I think it stops after 10 attempts IIRC. You could learn to whistle into
your cellphone at the correct frequency to make the Vista think it's
handshaking with the receiver.

How will you know the difference between high water, low water, low battery,
ac fail, ac restoral?

I think the 10 has a pager option, you might look into that.

Bill,
A Vista10SE can report to a pager. All of the tech info I have shows
this option. Some of the early 10SE panels may not have this feature.

Once in programing
*42 Secondary Phone - Put your cell #
*43 Acct # - Put in a 4 digit acct # (example 1234)
*47 Split/Dual Reporting - Use option 6

The primary number should be set to blank or bogus number. The system
should call the primary and attempt to report. Without a "Kissoff"
from a central station, it will continue to try for 8 -10 attempts.
Eventually the system will show a "FC" on the keypad indication a
Failed Communication. Unfortunately all abvailable split formats will
cause the system to try to call the primary first then send to pager
(secondary). It will report the acct number (SSSS), alarm (911), and
zone (XXX). The alarm should come in a pager as the digits
1234-911-001 for an alarm on zone 1. Not sure if it will give digits
to a cell......But as you stated, you would know that it was your panel
by the caller id.

You can purchase a dialer that plays a recorded message for around $50
- $100.
