Do an ESR test on all the capacitors in the horiz scan, HV generator,
and power supply sections to start with. The hardway without an ESR
meter is to sub them all to test, or to use a scope and go through all
the stages to evaluate their performance. Many of the caps can cause
instability of scanning and performance. The exact cap would not be easy
to guess at in these monitors.
If you are not equipped and trained to work on TV equipment, I would
suggest you give the monitor out for proper service. There are also many
safety issues involved.

this monitor gets a great picture...but it has a horizontal
tearing
at the top of the screen...where do i start to check it
