When I was a kid, (I'm 27 now), we had video googles at the dentist that were plugged into a vcr. I thought it was the coolest thing.

I can't find any old video goggles out there though. All the products I see are new and get horrible reviews.

Anyone know anything about this stuff?

You can buy an Oculus Rift. They perform better than almost all out there.

You can still find them. Many chinese websites sell them pretty cheap with Standard Definition.
Other devices cost more but have a higher resolution.
The other recommendation above for the Oculus Rift will allow Stereoscopic video/images to be played.

Additionally, the goggles are commonly used for RC vehicles and are referred to as POV displays.

I've searched everywhere: google, amazon, dealextreme, ebay... where are these standard definition ones sold?

Do I just need to keep an eye out?

I'm glad to hear they finally got some of those googles to work.
When I was a kid, the x-ray vision ones I bought in the back of my comic books, wouldn't.
