Hello people.

With voice chat programs on PC like MSN Messenger and Skype, I thought
it would be cool to use a real phone as a PC microphone.

Q: Does someone here knows how to adapt a real phone to be used as a PC
microphone?

Thanks

One way that should work:

Connect the telephone in series with a 1000-ohm resistor and a 9-volt
battery.

Take the signal across the 1000-ohm resistor and feed to Line In (not Mic
In) on the soundcard.

Current is drawn from the battery only when the phone is off the hook.

You could arrange a more subtle solution that involves stealing 5 volts from
the PC, and isolating the phone circuit with a capacitor.

Those companies selling VOIP telephony can offer USB phone handsets IIRC.

I will check, but I am interest in making it on my own.
What do I need to use a phone as a microphone for PC? Any amplifier is
need?

No. If you put the telephone in series with a 9 volt battery and a 1000-ohm
resistor, you will have line-level audio across the resistor.
