I'm building a project with an arduino and want to know if this relay....
https://www.sparkfun.com/products/100
will work for what I want to do.

There are three terminals on the back of my garage door opener. Looking at the wires that are already connected to them (the push button and the sensors) I guessed correctly that if I connected the top terminal to the middle terminal it caused the door to open or close. I'd like to have my arduino control the opening and closing of the door also. I don't think the voltage on the terminals is 120V because of the size of the wires that are already connected to them, but I assume it is more than 5V. So, if I use the relay listed above, will this work or am I missing some electronics knowledge that is going to fry everything?

thanks from a newbie!

I think you would be safe with that relay. You could also measure the voltage across the terminals when open and the current through when you short them thorugh an Ammeter. A transistor might do just as well.
