    I was given a APC 1400VA UPS and changed the SLA batteries from 12v 7Ah to 12v 9Ah and was wondering if the increase in Ah will raise the rated VA of the UPS? From what I read the VA of a UPS is rated by the circuitry used in the device but just wanted to double check.

    The APC uses 4 batteries wired in series and parallel.

    VA is the output power not the total capacity.
    Calculated watts = VA * power factor.
    Wh = watts x hours.
    Wh will increase as you have larger capacity battery so a given load will run longer.
