    Hi,
    Can anyone design a up/down counter with jkff that can load and hold
    with these:
    11=load,10:down count,01:up count,00:hold

  2. Most likely yes,
    and what are the specifications ?
    Speed, voltage levels ?

    Take a look at the 191 and 269 up/down counters, not to mention the ECL
    136 part

    They spread these controls over three inputs, which probably works
    better at a system level for most application. You could obviously
    decode your two inputs to generate the fours sets pf three outputs
    levels which will set up the functions you require, but you may find
    yourself in trouble synchronising the state of the counter with the
    activity on the input you are monitoring for up and down counts.

    Yes I can, but that wouldn't help you learn anything would it. Try
    doing it yourself and then come back when it doesn't work.

  6. Yes, I can and I've done it before but it's no use to do so as these type of
    counters are readily available and cheap. That's why I guess this task was
    meant to learn *you* something.
