TV Picture went weird

New (less than 2 months) 27" Daewoo. Turned off the other night then
turned back on about 5 minutes later. Picture color was weird. Three
circular areas inner was green then red (I think) then another color.
Turned on and off several times and it would not inprove. Other TV's
OK. All on cable. Next morning, and since then, its fine. Anybody
know what may have caused this and should I be worried?

TIA

Yes dont buy anything with Daewoo on it
it is made as cheap and with as poor of quality parts as they can get .
go buy Panasonic , JVC , Toshiba and you will have better luck

They are really not bad compared to some other sets on the market.
It sounds like the set got magnetized somehow. Either something with a lot of
magnetivity was placed close to the set, or the set has a problem with the
demagnetizingcircuit.
Don't worry unless the problem comes back.

Not a problem, just ulgy. Take the set to shop and tell them to
repair degaussing circuit & replace at least four capacitors to
prevent future more damage. Should not be more than 100 to do both.

Daewoo in 27" range has RCA CRT usually which is good.

The mask in the CRT became magnetized. After switching off about 30
minutes or more, the degaussing coil should be able to be re-activated
again. A number of power cycles with about a 30 minute rest between
them should eventualy clear this. If not there is either a defect with
the degausser, CRT, or the CRT is very badly magnetized, and requires
to be manualy demagnetized.

Thank you very much.
Now I know what happened and why the problem went away.

Well the set cost a whole $149.95 on a super sale at a local supermarket
the day after hanksgiving.
It weighs a ton and is big so I will hope Jerry Greenberg is right and
the problem will stay away. I suspect the rapid off/on at the time of
the incident triggered the problem.

Thanks to all that weighed in. Very impressive group.

The picture tube is one of very few things that RCA ever makes that's decent.
