    can any-one explain If the AC supply to transformer is replaced by DC supply what happens?

    Study the theory of electromagnetic induction. You need to read more.

    In short: nothing would happen, it wouldn't work.

    As to the why, answering that would be answering your entire question, but I can suggest you look into how a transformer operates and how current can be induced.

    Well, more than nothing will happen. Something will happen when you connect it, and something else will happen when you disconnect it.

    ah that is true, I suppose I ought to say nothing like the primary function of a transformer will happen.

    You could accidentally discover an audio amplifier though if you're lucky.
