Allegedly, there is a connector that can function as TO-220 socket.

This device has rather wide leads. They cannot fit in a DIP socket.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Keystone http://www.keyelco.com/kec/pdfs/p94.pdf

has a TO-66 socket (their P/N 4617) which might work.

Only problem I can see is that you've got to bend the wide part of the
TO-220's leads to get the 0.580" spacing from one of the socket's
mounting holes to the pins, and you'll need to use a mica washer if you
want the TO-220's tab to be isolated from the mounting surface.

Used to be that, if you opened PETA.COM (instead of PETA.ORG), you got
a parody site called People Eating Tasty Animals. No longer.

I was most disappointed to see that ATI.COM is now pointing to the
graphics card manufactuer and not to "Artificial Turd Industries".

The turd enterprise certainly smelled like a shakedown attempt..

Not any more. The Slashdot coverage got the 17-year old a new host.
The added bandwidth gave him a readily-accessible soapbox
whence he stated his case.

All the bad press which that garnered
made M$ rethink the (yet another brilliant) idea
and they backed down.

Google for 'Textool' which is under 3M. They have test sockets for
TO220 parts, and they have Kelvin contacts (each lead of the TO220
part will have 2 separate contacts. I have used these before for
testing triacs. I am not sure if these are what you are looking for,
but give it a try.

And yes, they have very wide flat leads at the bottom of the socket.
