timed electronic release

Hi, I want to build a unit that drops hay four times a night, I don't know how to do it tho!! I need some kind of electric pulse and timer and pins or something to hold the doors and drop it at specific times. don't want to spend too much money any ideas is there so sort of retractable pin/pole that I could use?

First off, is there any sort of electronic control dropping the hay as it is or do you have to go drop it by hand?

Like is there a unit that holds the hay and you just push a button to drop it when you want to drop it or do you have to load the hay into a hopper or something and then open it?
