I had this problem with a similar model of fax machine. The fault ended up
being that the power supply was getting too weak. After doing an ESR test on
all the caps in the supply, I found a number of them to be high. I ended up
changing all the caps in the supply.
Other than defective parts in the drive circuits for the thermo print strip,
is the print strip may be dirty, or the print strip itself has become
defective. The print strip can be cleaned with some alcohol. Use a lint
free soft tissue to clean it. Be very gentle. Consult your user book for
details about cleaning the print strip, and for user type overall
troubleshooting.
It has been a long time since I have worked on one of these machines.

I have a thermal fax machine for several years now ( panasonic
KX-F780) all of a sudden, it is printing faintly for incoming faxes.
I get a lot of faxes from overseas, they all come through very
faintly.
Anybody has any idea where I could start checking into?
