    Hi:

Lets say that the electrical resistance of my adipose tissue was -- for
some mysterious reason -- decreased from what it is right now to about
    10 ^ -500 ohm.

What symptoms would I experience if an AC electric current of 1,000
amps, 50-60 Hz was applied directly to the adipose tissue of my abdomen
via insertion of an extremely sharp electric needle that is only one
iron-atom wide at the end, and which -- for some unknown reason -- also
has a resistance of only 10^-500 ohm? Thermal injuries are out of the
question because of the extremely low resistance.

My guess is that the pressure of the electric current would rupture the
adipose tissue covering my stomach. Am I right?

    Thanks,

    Radium

  2. Nope. You'd find that

    a) Your left foot would fall off
    b) Your eyebrows would change shape
    c) Your ears would become elf shaped...

    Next question?

do you mean if you had a resistor of 10 ^ -500 ohm and ran 1,000 amps
    through it ?
    the power dissipated is I ^2 * R or 10 ^ 6 * 10^-500 or 10 ^ -494
But that is hardly realistic even if your frozen to absolute 0, in which
case you could donate the rest of your body to experimential science, such
as extreamly high gamma radiation intensity experiments to brain tissue.

    As always, no.

The first thing that would happen is your "extremely sharp electric
needle" would turn into a plasma because of the current density.

    Google "exploding wires".

    No, you would die.

    Something like that.
As I said, this electricity and shock of mine are purely theoretical.
Hypothetically it is possible for such to occur. In practice, not even
    close.

Plamsa only occurs if the object [needle in this case] is heated to
high-enough temperature to seperate the electrons from the nuclei of
the atom. In my hypothetical situation, the temperature doesn't get any
higher than what it normally is. IOW, current passing through my body
-- strong current, it maybe -- does not generate any heat.

    Die from what?

One more time, Google "exploding wires".

The wire will explode due to energy density, not resistive heating.

In your case, abject stupidity. It's 100% fatal.

Yes, that possibility has been raised before, but why someone
would engage in trolling in a manner which each and every
single time makes THEM look like a complete moron is
beyond me. Masochism, perhaps, or simply such an intense
need for attention that you're willing to go to any lengths for
it. If that's what's going on in our friend Radium's case, if
it weren't for the net, he'd no doubt paint himself bright
blue and strap himself naked to the top of the Empire State
Building, so I suppose we should be thankful for what small
    favors technology has granted us....

What if the needle was strong enough to handle the current w/out
    exploding? What symptoms would occur?

  18. Any more "what if"'s and your brain will explode. You can "what if"
    anything away...

    Impossible; Google "exploding wires".

If you want to discuss idiotic plots for sci-fi stories, go somewhere
    else.

    Radium Guest

    Theoretically it is possible.
    I did.
Hypothetical does not necessarily mean sci-fi.
