What is the best method to condition a strain gauge signal other than AC to DC conversion, Phase sensitive detection and Phase locked loops?

AC to DC, PSD & PLL? What are you trying to do?
I had a look at your other thread (abandoned?) about this matter and I'm still just as wise..
