Thanks all for you help on the last few projects I've needed help with but its time I gave up the electronics projects and just stick to repairing mass made devices. Am starting to find the PCB design software and and the range of devices now available amazing but confusing it is starting to make me feel stupid So I'll quit while I am ahead

You may be trying to tackle too much too soon. Building your own electronics devices, and even better, designing them, are very rewarding, but you have to learn to walk before you run.

I've been doing it 20 years now if I've not got a grasp by now I don't think its likely I ever will .
