Found this power supply article on nuts and volts from march 2007 and I would like to build one:

I'm having a bit of an issue to find some parts like the transformers, I was looking to find exactly the same parts.

It would help if you told us what the parts were, or at least linked to the article.

The first one on the list I have a hard time to find one with the exact same specs
    "T1 120V primary, dual 44V center tap secondaries @ 1.5A"

If you can find one with a larger current rating that will be fine. Is this the problem your having.

If you do find such a transformer, it will probably cost you more than buying a complete bench power supply.

Actually I looked, and dual supplies do not come that cheap.

I think your best bet would be to get a toroid core of the appropriate size and wind your own transformer.

I found a few Chinese power supplies on eBay rating 30v for $33 free shipping ---from China :) or they are really bad or they are really cheap

Yes, I found cheap singles, but no duals for less than about $180.

When I was a teenager I used to build my own transformers, good times, everything electronic was expensive so we had to improvise.

How many times in 20 years will you need a DUAL supply?
