Hmmm... I've been playing with Motorola's µC's for so long I almost
forgot there was anybody else out there. Thanks for waking me up!
When you realize that these things burn only 2.3uA (measured with a 32kHz low
freq clock operating) or so in mode 3 and that the real time clock is still
operating and all interrupts are active at this time...
And when you realize that this CPU can wake up, guaranteed, in less than 6us and
be running at 8MHz then (typical is 2us)...
then you realize that the fancy micro-power PICs just won't cut the mustard for
really LOW LOW power operation.
These babies will almost run on the power derived from antenna affects of short
PCB traces and can get up to full speed in so quick that by the time you get
your task finished it's 14us *before* you started out!
Well,... almost.
They are nice if you count every nanoJoule like it was gold.
