Technic SA-DA8 shutting down

Hello

On my Technics SA-DA8 receiver, the cooling fan was not going on and the
receiver was getting very hot. I checked the fan, it was ok (it would run
with a 12v adapter) but wouldn't turn on when connected to the circuit
board. After a few weeks of this the SA-DA8 started shutting down the main
speaker output (not off and not the surround channels) I disconnected the
fan wire and ran it off a 12v adapter so it runs whenever the unit is on.,
thinking just keep the fan cooling but still after about 20 min it continues
to shut down and I get and overload message. It is not hot any longer and if
I turn it off and back on everything is fine for another 20-30minets then
shuts down again??????

Thanks

The fan is designed to run only when the load on the output stages is
sufficient enough to trigger it.

Make sure the speaker connections are clean and tight and are not shorting to
ground or to other speaker wire. Also, make sure the receiver is set up
properly.

If you are running 4 ohm speakers, you must set the receiver to run in low
impedance mode. If you are running 6 or 8 ohm speakers, the low impedance mode
must be set off.

DO NOT use the bi-amp mode if you are not using bi-amp speakers.

You must leave sufficient ventilation on the top of the unit. These things do
run on the hot side!
It is not hot any longer and if
I turn it off and back on everything is fine for another 20-30minets then
shuts down again??????

You may need to take the receiver in for service. - Reinhart
