I doubt it. It doesn't slow down the christian fundamentalist
much.

I think you are confusing those who hide behind a bible they don't
believe in, just to get tax exempt status, to pull their con jobs and
spread hatred, with people who truly believe what they have read.

Groups like this one, run by Fred Phelps:
http://www.godhatesfags.com/ that was disrupting funerals of soldiers
killed in Iraq and Afghanistan and claiming that the soldiers deserved
to die because they should have been at home rounding up all the
homosexuals. The last I heard, 18 states had passed laws making it
illegal to disrupt a military funeral.

This is a cult, or mob, hiding behind religious freedom to spread
their hatred.

OTOH, the people at a small church near me almost lost their building
by over extending themselves financially to help Katrina victims to
relocate to our area. It was so bad that several members took out
second mortgages on their homes to save their church. These people had
some of the Katrina victims as house guests, and helped others find
apartments, or mobile homes to rent, and spent weeks making sure they
found jobs. They also claim the tittle of Fundamentalist. All
"Fundamentalist" really means is that you take the entire bible, not
just what fits your needs.

The four tornados that tore through the Central Florida area
yesterday? Two churches opened their doors as free public shelters
within hours.

Today, the Red Cross has stepped in and are taking full credit for
all of the aid the more than 400 people are receiving, even though the
churches are footing the bills to house them. Mobile homes, apartment
buildings and site built homes were all damaged or destroyed, to the
extent they are talking federal aid. The area was already hard to find
homes for sale or any place to rent, so it will be a while before things
will be anything close to normal for these people. The miracle is that
not one person died.

Somehow, that doesn't surprise me that the "RED CROSS" is "trying" to take
credit. They can be a pushy bunch. I've been close enough to them - in
training and so on - but after getting a good taste of what they really
wanted - I said to hell with it. They couldn't pay me enough to take their
bull shit.

They're not "all that" - as they would like to think. I don't care if I was
burned out - I can do better off without their charity. They don't offer
crap - so far as I am concerned.

They had a food truck near here a couple years ago, after one of the
hurricanes. The hot meals they promised were usually several hours late,
and there was no gasoline availible, so you couldn't afford multiple
trips. I spent up to four hours waiting for a singfle hot meal each day.
The rest of the time I lived on Peanut butter and crackers, or cans of
SPAM. Prior to that, I spent close to 10 days in an emergency county
shelter for the disabled at a local high school. The food was better,
but it was all high in calories from sugar and high in fats. I'm
diabetic, and have high blood pressure, so between the two of them had
me quite ill for months as I readjusted to my normal diet, and air
condtioning. Its time to use up all my emergency rations, and start
restocking for next hurricane season. :(

Yea, they are profiteering scum. Even back in WWII they got people in
the states to make gloves to give to the troops, which they then SOLD to
the troops.

Learn your world history. The Muslims preserved ancient
knowledge while the Christians were burning and destroying
everything. Question their moral authority if you want,
but not their literacy.

Learn current events: They don't teach their kids about the world,
they teach hatred. Hatred grows best with illiteracy.

OK - so to keep in the theme - you Michael - are a real card! :)

Our Fire Department has bingo one night a week. I don't know HOW - anyone
can sit for that length of time! Man oh man - my butt would be sore as hell.
I work it and I sit in a leather chair and even at that - I have a time of
it sitting that long. I have to get up several times just to keep my butt
from going numb.

Lou, my sense of humor is real, and it has served me well over the
last six years as my job disappeared, my health failed, and I was
declared 100% disabled. Without it, I probably wouldn't still be here.

As far as working the Bingo games, I haven't been well enough, but I
do some other things for the group. I know what you mean about sitting.
I have circulation problems in my legs I can't stand very long, and I
can't sit very long. It drives other people crazy, but what can you do?

I was called up for Jury duty recently. The summons state that they
required a letter from your doctor to be excused, or that you are 65 or
older. My VA doctor refused to sign, because I wasn't scheduled to be in
the hospital on that day.

I dragged myself to the courthouse before daylight, where the clerk
told me, "Oh, you only need to show us papers that you are 100% disabled
before the day you are to appear, and you are excused for life!" I was
excused about lunchtime, after countless trips around the waiting room,
and trips to the rest room, because of the high blood pressure medicine,
and diuretics. What a strange day. :(

I used to climb two way radio towers, work on 60 foot ladders wile
installing commercial sound systems, and in a work basket over high lift
forklifts. When I was young, I delivered those '60s and '70s console
color TVs by myself, sometimes to a third floor, without an elevator. I
worked about 12 hours a day, 8 for pay, and 4 or more in my home shop.
I never planned to retire. Instead, I was planning to keep working in my
1200square foot home shop by repairing antique electronics, and doing
contract assembly work building prototypes for a number of small
companies. That ended with the long term illness, and having most of my
shop equipment destroyed by two years of hurricanes doing damage to the
shop building.

Then, almost two years ago I got that letter from the VA, awarding my
100% disability. Let me tell you that it was a real blow to read the
line, "It is obvious that due the the list of medical problems, and his
age, this person will never be able to work again." Talk about mixed
blessings. Even though it would pay most of the bills, it was one of the
worst days of my life. That's why I crack all of the bad jokes, and
some days I have almost zero tolerance for the idiots and trolls.
