Can anyone help me with info re importance of correctly matching capacitor
to the motor?

I have a faulty 24v motor with a 8.2microfarad capacitor - is it ok to
replace the motor with one designed for 6.8 microfarads?

Thanks

Dave

Dave, are you sure that you know what you're talking about? I've never
heard of a DC syncronous motor, nor any DC motor that needs a capacitor to
starrt or run.
You probably are referring to an AC syncronous motor. And to answer your
question, yes it's perfectly permissible to replace the motor, so long as
you replace it with a motor of suitable voltage and power ratings. And you
must also replace the capacitor with one of the correct value.
