I am making an either/or switch to be able to switch between two microphones !

I intend to use a double pole / double throw switch , to select between mic 1 or mic 2 .

I am using a toggle switch , but if it works out , I will use a foot switch .

The mics will be used for vocals , one for lead vocal and one for background vocal

I think this should work ! Can someone draw me a schematic . I have drawn one myself , but I am sure there is someone out there that can draw me a better one !

You did not say if the microphones are balanced or unbalanced.
Connect the cable shields all together and if the mics are balanced then switch both their audio wires and if unbalanced then switch only the single audio wire.

So if they are balanced , what switch would I need ? I am a little confused !

Can you give me a rough schematic Please !

A balanced microphone has two audio wires and a shield wire. You use a DPDT switch to switch both wires.
An unbalanced mic has only one audio wire that needs only one pole of a switch so a SPDT or DPDT switch can be used.

A schematic for this switch is extremely simple:
