Hello,
I want to switch a DC device (with a relay) in the garage, from the house. The garage is behind the house and the garden, so it's a different building. There is power going from the house to the garage. So I want to control a relay from the house over the power line. I'm open to other options. I thought about RF, but the garage is on a hill, and you can't see the garage from the ground floor, plus there are also walls.
Thanks in advance:
Bálint

Research "X10" control systems that use control communication over the power lines.

Also, UPB Universal Power Bus

You don't say how far the garage is from the house.
There are long range 433mhz units that I've used to around 100 metres. At around $15 from Ebay, might be worth a try. Various models, 1 to 4 relays.
