I have a HK AVR7000 there the volume all suddenly raised to a very
high level (luckily not so late at night..). It was no problem to turn
the volume down after it happened and no other problems. It was the
firs time it happen but it will fore sure happen again.. Does somebody
know what could be the fault or experience the same thing?

Causes will vary depending upon type of volume control - motor-driven analog
potentiometer, totally electronic using volume control IC's, you can see
they would be different.

Bad solder connection somewhere or a momentarily stuck front panel or remote
control button are the first things that come to my mind. You probably will
just have to wait to see if it recurs or becomes more frequent before any
real troubleshooting can begin.

Might even be the remote control (if you have one).... low batteries or a
stuck button ? ? Take the batteries out of the remote and put it in a
drawer to see if the problem does not reoccur.

I have an HK570 i with similar symptom that i have not troubleshot yet,
I just bang on it and it fixes it for a while. in my case it gets
louder on only one channel and the tone changes such that the mids are
boosted but the lows and highs are not. In my case it sounds like
there is a bad solder joint in some feedback circuit someplace where
the negative feedback is getting disconnected.

Next time it happes check the effect of all the controls, tone balance
etc modes, all that info will be helpful troubleshoting.
