hi,

I am designing a portable wind turbine. Right now I have the rotor at
~40 rpm. I want to store the energy generated in a battery. Once the
battery is charged, the storage needs to be stopped (while the rotor is
running). I am wondering: how can i check whether the battery is
charged or not, some kind of feedback loop but I cannot figure out what
to use. Also, what how can I dispose off the power being generated once
the battery is charged completely. I would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Does turbine generate ac or dc? Seems like a microprocessor could PWM
the output into the battery to do 2 things... not load the generator so
much the blade stops, and not overcharge the battery.

okay, i am a little stuck here. I cannot figure out how to design a
generator (either ac or dc). My rotor has a torque of 300 Nm at 2.5
rad/sec angular velocity (24 rpm). I have read about various generators
(permanent magnet, wire wound, brushless) but how do I go about
determining the electrical output of my rotor. I may also need a gearbox
to convert rotor torque to rpm. I will appreciate any help.

if you are clever and need a gear box try a 10 speed or a 21 speed bycle
the gearing is all there
hint blades go on where the pedals where "wink wink"
