    A Friend and I are interested in how people would recreate our
    everyday technology if we had to go back to the stone age or to
    giligan's island. What would be the first priorities in recreating
    our electronic and mechanical tools? We were talking about glass,
    mining metals, creating rudimentary computers. A lathe would be a
    crowning achievement.

    Does anybody have any ideas? What would you do if you were the
    professer on Giligan's Island?

    Do I have to rub sticks together to make fire? And do I have to
    make my own knife by chipping flint? Assuming you've got food,
    water, and shelter covered (and clothes, if it's not the tropics)
    I'd look for something to either pass the time, or whatever might
    lead to getting rescued. But I think a radio made of coconuts is
    a little unlikely. ;-}

    Ferment cocoanut milk and banana mash, and open a bar.

    After learning to spell "Gilligan" I'd rub two coconuts together and make a
    TV station. I wouldn't bother with a receiver though coz the programs would
    be crap.
