I am trying to build a ciruit to create sparks 10 times every minutes.
I have a ultravolt high voltage power supply...what other components
do i use to create this spark??
can i use a 555 timer to get those 10 sparks a minute ...will the high
voltage affect the 555 timer???

also what kinda capacitor do i use?? are there any pulsed capacitors
available in the market.

thanks for the help..

The ordinary way to do this is to connect up an automotive ignition
coil to a circuit that simulates the ignition system of car. That can
either take the form of a capacitive discharge (cap pumped up to a
hundred or two volts that gets dumped into the coil primary) or a
current interrupter (primary driven with low voltage up to some fairly
large current, an then that current is switched off by a switch that
can handle the couple hundred volts the primary will produce as the
inductive current quenches).

Either if those systems can be driven by a 555 timer. And, yes, the
timer will react to the magnetic and electric fields of the spark
process (and the power supply bounce the sudden load changes will
cause), unless you design adequate protection for it.

Uh, not much to go on here. What kind of voltage, how long sparks? If
it's not too excessive you might get away with a simple RC circuit. A
high value resistor charging up a capacitor connected across the spark
gap. When it reaches breakdown you get a spark, sort of the classic
neon blinker on steroids. If your HV source is current limited it may
be possible to do without the resistor.
