Source for Male/Female 40-pin IDE connector/cable ?

Hi All,

I'm after an IDE cable with a 40-pin male connector on one end and a
40-pin female connector on the other end.

Essentially it's an IDE extension cable.

Anyone know where I can source one, or at least the 40-pin male IDE
connector to go on a ribbon cable ?

Try Farnell or RS components - what you are after is available but
it's a fairly uncommon beast

Try Farnell or RS components - what you are after is available but
it's a fairly uncommon beast

Another option is to by a row of 2x40pin PCB mount bare headers (the
non-boxed type).

You can then join 2 normal IDE cables using their existing connectors...

Do NOT do this unless you want real trouble!! The pins do not connect
properly!!

Try it and you will see pin 1 on one connecter will actually mate to
pin two on the other.
