I would like to be able to play a recording such as "Machine one" ... "Machine five" as an alarm when the machine has any problem.

When the machine is in hold for manteinance a relay will be activated and I would like to play a recording for that machine.

Which is the easiest way to archieve this with electronics?

I'm a mechanical engineer and I have basic knowledge of electronics, however I would like to be adress in the right path to start this project.

Thanks!!

Welcome to electronicspoint.

You can use an MP3 module which issues one of 5 pre-stored messages when triggered. Here is an example (note: model WTV020-SOP20 will be required, see the datasheet). The module should be set for pulse trigger (chapter 8.1.2 in the datasheet). I recommend you use photocouplers instead of relays for triggering. Photocouplers need less power and do not exhibit contact bounce.
This module can drive a small speaker directly. For larger speakers you will have to add an amplifier. The datasheet shows how.
