Sound activation with slight delay?

Im trying to make a costume with el-el wire for creating lightning that shoots down my arms. I know they make sound activated kits but I would like the top half of the lightning to go off just a bit earlier than the bottom. My thought was a capacitor or something. Any ideas to delay input voltage by a tad?

Thanks!

What has the timing to do with sound activation?
Could you rephrase the question with a bit more detail? E.g.:
- Where does the initial activation come from?
- Which drivers do you use to light up the el wires?
- Do these drivers have a control input (for turning the driver on and off?

With just two segments (top, botttom) the "lightning" will not "shoot down" the arm. For that effect you will need more segments. LEDs are better suited to this. These LEDs for example with controller are sewable and addressable, meaning you can create all kinds of patterns.
