Sony TV model KV27V40 blink codes?

This set will not power up. When you first plug it in the led blinks 10
times, then the relay clicks and holds for 10 seconds and then clicks
again. Then the led blinks 4 times. Thereafter as long as its plugged
it does a repeating sequence of 4 blinks. Trying to turn it on during
this sequence interrupts it, the relay again holds for about 10 seconds
then drops out and the 4 blink sequence resumes. I found cold solder
joints on the hor. driver transformer and the HOT shorted. I redid all
the soldering and replaced the Hot which was a 2SC5425 with a 2SD2580.
The set still does the same thing. I don't have a schematic and so I
was wondering if anyone knows of any further problems with these sets
or perhaps from a troubleshooting point of view could point me in the
right direction. Thanks very much for any assistance.

I'm not very well versed in troubleshooting these Sony's with blink
codes. Can someone please give me a brief explanation as to how they
work and how to troubleshoot this kind of problem. I'm not sure how to
go after the vertical if the set won't power up. And how does a loss of
vertical keep the set from powering up? I'm wondering now if the
shorted HOT was just coincidence or something else. And why were there
no additional blinks to indicate that initially? Is there some kind of
training manual that someone may be able to share with me and or
perhaps a schematic? Thanks again for any help. Lenny Stein, Barlen

Loss of vertical triggers the protect circuits to disable current into the
CRT including HV. Their way of assuring they don't replace CRT within
warrenty peroid with a horiz stripe burned across it because someone still
wanted to use the flippin thing as a radio.<
