As i have been in the field designing small
scale electronic circuits for various applications i find
that sometimes over confidence and falling asleep at the
helm can get you in a lot of trouble.
for instant.

for example in my case:

i had a need to detect an Sine signal into an op amp
to produce a + only into the + input of the OP-AMP.
so what i did was feed the AC signal through a
decoupler Cap to the + input of the OP-Amp using a
Diode to ground (anode to ground) to clamp the - side
of the signal so that i would not get much into the
neg side of the AC signal.
this is all well and fine how ever, what i over looked
was the fact is, this is how a voltage double works when
converting AC via a cap being clamped to ground via a
diode, the forward charge of the desired polarity tends
use the charge of the clamped un-desired polarity thus
multiplying the input voltage x 2;
i can say that i did not take into account when selecting
the max input for the chip taking off from the reference i
was monitoring and wondering why the OP-AMps were going
south now and then ..

Live long and don't pull your hair too much!
