Solid state PTT switch design

The RadioShack HTX-200 uses a PTT circuit of the following design
(forgive my ascii art):

barrel - /|
----|------------/-----------/ |
=== | \ 22k ohm | |
----|------\ ---/-----------\ |
tip \ + \|
1/8" plug Mic

switch

Relay would be simplest, but I'd prefer something that doesn't make
noise. I was thinking of trying an analog switch (I have a 4052 in the
parts box somewhere). Any suggestions? Am I missing a really simple
answer?

Thanks,
R C

A reed relay doesn't make much noise. You can probably use a
tranisitor to gate just the 22K resistor. You could also probably use
some sort of FET as a relay.
