Soldering rod problem part 2

    i did what the internet says, damp a sponge to clean the tip.

    now i cant touch the tip or solder anything. Idk what happened coz whenver i touch it im getting grounded always..

    I understand the first sentence, the second not at all.

    Can't touch the tip? (well, it's probably really hot). Getting grounded?

    no what i mean is before i can touch it to check if it's hot but now it's like there is a electricity coming out of the tip

    How is it "like there is electricity coming out of the tip"

    Do you measure a voltage with respect to earth?

    Do you see sparks?

    How did you use a damp sponge? The idea is that you wipe the tip (the part you solder with) on the sponge while the iron is hot. You should hear a bit of a sizzle and the tip should look bright and shiny again.

    the only reason I can think that your iron is now electrifying you is that its damaged, it should not be zapping you. it is a closed circuit that produces heat, either a lose connection or a broken heating element will be the cause of you getting zapped
