    Just continuing from my last post. It seems the topic went way off into
    another direction.

    I just wanted to know if and how I would go about storing hydrogen that
    comes from the solar concentration process. What equipment would I need? So
    far, I have successfully constructed 3 solar concentrators and am reaching a
    temp of about 2100C at the concentration point.

    For those who suggested using bioreactors, thanks, but not thanks. Using the
    sun as the prime energy source is all Im interested in. Can someone give me
    some advise on how to go about storing the separated gas into cylinders as
    its nice and flammable.

    To those who emailed me asking why I would want to do something like this
    and who also told me that using hydrogen as stored power is impractical,
    thanks but your response really doesn't help me at all. To simply ride off
    hydrogen as impractical without trying anything yourself is stupid. My main
    reason would be to use the expended gas as a cooking medium. Further on down
    the track I might consider using it to drive a turbine for electricity. If
    anyone has tried this already with no results I would love to hear about it.

    equipment. Not for the man-in-the-street.




    Hydrogen is a high quality energy-storing intermediary. That is, it takes
    "high quality energy" to produce it (high temperatures, high voltages,
    etc.). In general, using high quality energy to accomplish low quality
    outcomes wastes energy; it is inefficient. In the context of logical uses of
    hydrogen, your low quality outcomes include cooking food, heating homes,
    producing low voltage electricity, and even propelling vehicles. These are
    possible, of course, but are more efficiently done without involving a high
    quality intermediate process.



    About the only conventionally justifiable uses of hydrogen are in achieving
    outcomes that can't be realized in other ways (for instance, propelling
    vehicles in congested areas while making zero local pollution, or using
    hydrogen as an industrial chemical feedstock). Of course, a more energy
    efficient choice for clean transportation is to use electricity from
    batteries. Battery technology will improving rapidly. It will always be more
    efficient to use a sun-to-electricity-to-motion method, then a
    sun-to-hydrogen-to-motion method.



    Whenever fossil fuels are used to produce hydrogen (fuel making heat,
    producing motion, producing electricity, and finally, hydrogen), there's a
    decrease in total efficiency and increase in total pollution. That is why
    IMHO an all-encompassing "New Hydrogen Economy" simply can't happen. It's a
    smokescreen for political/corporate/economic agendas. You can fool the
    uninitiated, temporarily, but you can't fool the bottom line.
