    Hello,

    Considering the following SMPS transformer winding configurations (each one is for the same applicatrion)
    ………….what would be the cost difference for these configurations?
    (i.e. the cost of getting each manufactured?)

    Am I right in presuming that , for example, 1. would be significantly cheaper than 2. ?

    1.
    [CORE] (PRIMARY) //// (SECONDARY)

    2.
    [CORE] (PRIMARY) //// (SECONDARY) //// (AUXILIARY COIL)

    3.
    [CORE] (PRIMARY) // (AUXILIARY COIL) //// (SECONDARY)

    4.
    [CORE] (1/2 PRIMARY) //// (SECONDARY) //// (AUXILIARY COIL) // (1/2 PRIMARY)

    where:-
    //// = 3500V mains isolation barrier
    // = single layer of tape

    1. will take less labor time winding, lead finish, etc - but it's a moot point, if the aux winding is necessary to your circuit - or if you need the lower leakage inductance you'll get from configuration 4.
