Am just assembling a kit to control motor speeds. I had a lot of trouble reading the small printing on some semiconductors and identifying them with the list supplied. I solved it by photographing them with a macro lens on my mobile phone and then had a decent sized picture to work with. Old eyes are a bit of a problem at times!

A jeweler’s loupe will let you read anything. I got one with an LED light for about $10.

For me, magnifying "reader" glasses at most discount stores have enough magnification and are more convenient, freeing both hands. Get the strongest ones they have (usually in the 2.5 to 3.5 diopter range).
