I'm thinking about a modification for my nephew's Nerf dart blaster that is full auto to try to let him have a switch for select fire. So ideally a 3-position switch — single shot, 3-shot burst fire and full auto. Is there a simple way to do this without a controller? The current system is a flywheel accelerator setup: to fire, you hold the flywheel trigger and the flywheel motors rev up; when you want to fire, you pull the firing trigger and a "pusher" motor pushes a Nerf dart from the magazine so that the flywheels grab/pinch it and shoot it out through the barrel. IIRC, the pusher is a segmented gear rack, so that the motor rotates once around for every push.
