Simple LED project.

I am creating a poster on a think piece of card for a uni project.

I have 5 LEDs and want to be able to have them go on one at a time (LED 1 then 2, 3 etc).
They also have to be controlled by some sort of easy switch mechanism.

The circuitry for this is extremely easy, I know - what I need help with is the best way to control the lights so that when I present this poster with a speech, I can switch them seamlessly.

4017 to switch from LED to LED.

Debounced switch to step them manually or an oscillator to do it automatically.

The choice of 4017 vs 74xx164 would be mostly determined by whether you want 1 LED on that moves in a sequence (4017), or possibly several leds on a once, possibly also moving in a sequence (164).

I guessed the former.
