I was thinking of a way to set up some strobe-ish lights to go along with music. I have a surround sound system and the easiest way I thought of achieving this was to get some low-amp streamed "Christmas" lights to hang around the room. I was thinking of hooking up a few short strands to the positive/negative ports on my surround sound amp. This would handle the power and data input in turn.
My question is whether this would work or whether it would just continuously power the lights (or blow out my speakers or amplifier, which would be less than ideal). If my idea isn't completely crazy, is there also a way that I could do this with the sub woofer (it uses an RCA connection).
Do any of you have suggestions on what type of lights I could get and haw many of them I could hang?
I have a Sony STR-k740p 5.1 amplifier
