Seeking source for RF parts

To keep it brief, I am wanting to create a series of RF/radio boards, one each
for standard AM and FM radio frequencies, and hopefully a NOAA receiver for
implementing the Emergency Broadcast System, or whatever its name is this
month <g> into some CATV equipment.

I am not well versed in the RF side of electronics, and probably not up to the
task of building a receiver from scratch, so I am hoping/searching for modules
that I can make use of that are basically already the radio receiver on one
board that I can integrate with a tuner, amp, and all the peripheral stuff for
the interface.

I imagine there must be such modules available, and I was wondering if anyone
can point me in the right direction to manufacturers or some web sites where I
might find such devices.

I sure would appreciate any help.

Hi Mark,

Best would be to pick up a copy of a ham radio magazine at the store.
Plenty of such ads in there. I am not a good source here since I build
everything from scratch and don't use kits. So I cannot recommend any
particular vendor. But for starters, maybe this list might help:

Huh?

What does CATV have to do with all the other stuff you mentioned? By
CATV I assume you mean Cable TV, where all the signals come into the
receiver through a closed cable or fiber system. The others all seem to
be standard OTA radio signals. They can share frequencies, but if you
have anything to do with a CATV system or a product to attach to one
this should all be obvious.

If what you were asking about made sense, it might be easier to answer.

CATV is Communal Antenna TV - not the same thing as cable, and still
needing all the RF stuff to make it work.

OK. New term to me. I guess we are recycling acronyms. My bad.

I think this application had it first.
Yeah, and it flopped because nobody could figure out how to get paid
for it.

Cheers!
