Now your DVR, access control, security alarm, server back-up application,
PC, UPS, toaster and kitchen sink can communicate with a common alarm
receiver....

Thats great! I always wanted my toaster to contact me via my blueberry if the toast burned while I was at work.

That's what smoke detectors are for...what you need is a wife...

Really? Hey I'm all for creativity, but if you insist....let's explore your
short comings, eh?
You seem to have fallen way short on your R&D department.
Not to mention the 10 year old that designed your web site. Perhaps you
should include an alternate site for the grown ups that would like to
actually read your information, and explain the process.
Then we can talk about the UL(C) requirements that have taken the back seat.
Then protocols, and things of that nature.
Unless you're just targeting customers with toasters, then I have no
objections to your use of embedded servers for such a service.

And here I get my email on my Blackberry. You sound like you have
better taste. ;-)

Every so often we'd get a fire alarm signal from one or another residential
account. When we'd call the premises the most common customer comment was
"I burned dinner and the house is full of smoke."

My standard reply was, "So you're using the fire alarm as an oven timer?"
