My home security alarm system stopped working recently. The panels
went "dead." I took out the battery and brought it to a battery store.
When they checked it, it only read 6 volts instead of 12 volts.
Therefore, I bought a new battery. When I installed it, the lights in
the panel came on but the AC light would not stop flashing. Within a
day everything went dead again. Can you tell me what the problem could
    be?

Check & make sure you have A/C power to the panel.
Check & make sure the circuit breaker for the outlet
that the transformer is plugged into has power.
Then check to see if you have power from the transformer
to the panel. Then check the panel for an input fuse and
make sure it is not blown.
The panel is telling you do not have A/C power at the
panel. DC power (battery) is fine.
