I was wondering if anyone could help me. I'm working on a stun gun and
having troubles finding out how to hook up a transformer. Here is the
schematic I'm reffering to.
www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/circ/hv/stungun/stungun.html.
The problem I'm having is with T1. I've got the part in front of me,
but not sure what connects to where.

Where did you get the transformer?

Is it identical to the one in the article?

The circuit board at the bottom of the article shows which pins are
what letters.

Well, it's supposed to be the same one. Problem is that the schematic
has 8 letters indicating 8 connections. The transformer only has 6
pins.

You've got the wrong transformer then !

Did this come as a kit ?

Then you are in trouble. I think you need at least 7 pins (one center
tapped winding and two other windings with two ends, each). In the
original, they made the center tapped winding by connecting two
windings in series (pins F and G connected together).

The layout shows only 6 holes drilled. B & F are not used...Paul

You mean on the PCB in the website? I saw that too, but according to
the schematic they are all used. I'm lost.

It can be ordered as a kit, but my instructor said there were to be no
kit projects, so I'm assebling this on a breadboard. It doesn't look
pretty, but as long as it works, I should get a passing grade. lol.
I don't think it's the wrong part. I emailed the author of the book
that I got from the website and it's what he told me to order. It's pn#
is 28K074

How can that be ?

The B and F connections are required. See the schematic.

I may end up just taking an F on the class. This is giving me a
migraine.

I asked elsewhere but I'l ask again.

Where did you get this transformer ? From someone supplying a kit of
parts intended for this project ?

I ordered it from Information Unlimited. More specifically, I emailed
Robert Ianini, the owner of the company and he told me which parts to
get.

Well, I did email him again asking what needs to be done. And from what
I gather, it used to be available as a kit, but isn't any more. Thank
you for trying to help though. I really do appreciate it.

It seems you should be asking them this question then !

Btw, I looked at their site and didn't see any kits.
